I am excited to share with you what I have been reading this week and what I plan to read next week. I am using my friends Jen and Kellee’s awesome meme idea. Please check out their amazing blog Teach Mentor Texts.
I am continuing to enjoy reading non-fiction picture books for the Non-Fiction Picture Book Challenge. It is hosted by Alyson Beecher at her amazing blog Kid Lit Frenzy! Can you spot the excellent nonfiction picture book in the books I read this week?
BOOKS I READ THIS WEEK!
Please look for these amazing titles at your local library!
Looking at Lincoln by Maira Kalman
The whimsical pictures and questions among the facts about Lincoln really made this picture book enjoyable. I also love the quotes from Abraham Lincoln among the facts. The author also includes some interesting facts at the end of the picture book in the notes section.
I am giving Looking at Lincoln 5 note-filled, tall hats out of 5.
Extreme Babymouse by Jennifer L. Holm & Matthew Holm
Typical Babymouse = Awesome Fun! If you love danger, snowboarding, bunny slopes, hot cocoa and of course cupcakes….then you will love Extreme Babymouse! Check out the newest book in this Fun-tastic graphic novel series.
I am giving Extreme Babymouse 5 extremely tasty cupcakes out of 5!
Every Day by David Levithan
This is an amazing, wild ride of a book! The character of A who becomes a different person every day really pulls you in and doesn’t let go up to the very end of the story. I had no clue what would happen next. I was always surprised by the next turn in the story. Who is A going to become next? How the heck is this book going to end?? Well, pick up the book now and find out! But be warned: You will not be able to put Every Day down!
I’m giving Every Day 5 new mornings in a new body out of 5!
The Runaway King by Jennifer A. Nielsen (Expected Release Date is March 1, 2013)
I am currently reading an advanced reader’s copy of The Runaway King. I loved The False Prince! So I am excited to read the second book in the series.
So what are you reading this week? Have you checked out the newest Babymouse book? Have you read Every Day? What did you think? I’m looking forward to reading your comments.
