Penguin on Vacation

Penguin on Vacation by Salina Yoon (Release Date: April 16, 2013) goes well with Sour Patch Kids. Of course there is nothing sour about Penguin on Vacation. This book is pure sweetness!

I adore the book Penguin and Pinecone: A Friendship Story. So to say I was excited to see the next Penguin adventure in my mailbox would be an understatement! I was nervous and excited. I was nervous because I wanted to love Penguin on Vacation as much as I did Penguin and Pinecone. I was not disappointed. Salina Yoon has created yet another sweet story about friendship that makes me smile.

snow again

I really related to Penguin and his need for a vacation. It might have something to do with the fact that my spring break starts in three days. It has been snowing like crazy this year in Michigan.  So I can also relate to wanting a break from the snow. It turns out that Penguin’s vacation is not as sunny as he would like it to be until he finds a friend. In the newest Penguin story, the author reminds us that it isn’t about where you are but who you are with that makes all the difference.

I thought the pictures in Penguin’s newest adventure were sweet, touching and humorous. I know my second grade students will enjoy the book as much as I do. I can’t wait to share it with them and talk about spring break. We all need a little sunshine in our lives and this book deliversMake sure to go on Vacation with Penguin on April 16th when the book is released. You can also enjoy Penguin’s antics on his blog and learn more about Salina Yoon and her books on her website.

While you are waiting (not so patiently) for Penguin on Vacation to come out….Check out Penguin and Pinecone: A Friendship Story. The first sweet story featuring Penguin.
