It’s Treat Tuesday! What are you reading….I mean eating?!

Thank you Shannon Houghton for the awesome meme picture! Check out Shannon’s fabulous blog!

Linda Urban bookThe Center of Everything by Linda Urban goes well with Turtles candy bars. Actually, donuts would go better but I didn’t have any of those. So I was forced to eat these Turtles instead. They were almost as satisfying as Linda Urban’s new book.

“The connections we make in the course of a life- maybe that’s what heaven is.” -Fred Rogers

My first tweet after I read The Center of Everything was: “If you are a writer and want to know how to make the ordinary become extraordinary read Linda Urban’s books .” I am always amazed by her ability to make me fall in love with the characters in her books. I literally want to know them in real life. The characters in The Center of Everything are fascinating and real. You can imagine yourself in Ruby’s shoes and making the wish, looking for the signs. You think of your own grandmother and what she meant to you….what she means to you. And you Listen. You listen with your whole heart to the story. Ruby’s story.

The Center of Everything is all about human connections, wishes and signs. It is all about the constellations. Will the stars align? Will the characters in this story come together or fall apart? I highly recommend you read this book to find out!

I know you will also love Hound Dog True and A Crooked Kind of Perfect! The audio books are excellent for both of these books.

Have you read any of Linda Urban’s books? What do you think? Which book is your favorite? I’d love to read your thoughts in the comments section.

  1. Lorna says:

I have yet to read CROOKED KIND OF PERFECT, but I really enjoyed THE CENTER OF EVERYTHING. She does fragile, emotionally charged kids so well. And EVERY word counts in her writing.

  2. Julee Murphy says:

I am hearing so much about Linda Urban books lately. I have A Crooked Kind of Perfect in my collection. I am also a fan of audio books. They bring a whole new perspective to great stories. At work, I am listening to my re-read of Hate that Cat by Sharon Creech while in my car I am listening to the Lois Lowry’s Messenger.

  3. Was finally getting a Treat Tuesday post done, and also finally read some previous ones. Well, I’ll wait until next week because YOU did a FABULOUS job on The Center of Everything, which was what I am finishing up! You said everything I was feeling! It is definitely a book that takes me back to my childhood, and brings up all kinds of wonderful Grandmother memories! Nice job, friend!
