The Year of Billy Miller by Kevin Henkes goes well with chocolate pudding. I am treating myself with some chocolate pudding since I have been getting up early and working out. I love to work out! Why? Well, because I read at the same time of course! Getting healthy and reading at the same time! Bliss….even at 6 in the morning.
I ADORE The Year of Billy Miller by Kevin Henkes. A classic, sweet, simply wonderful story about Billy, his family and his year as a second grader. All I can say is pre-order this book now! It is goes on sale on September 17, 2013. I just can’t wait to read this book aloud to my second grade students.
Another book I loved reading this summer was Rump: The True Story of Rumpelstiltskin by Liesl Shurtliff. I had a great time talking about this very funny book with other readers on Twitter for the Virtual Book Club chat. Here is the archive of the chat! Such a fun time! A huge thank you to Liesl Shurtliff for joining us!
The next Virtual Book Club chat will be on Monday, August 5th at 9 p.m. EST on Twitter. Just use the hashtag #virtualbookclub to join in. We will be talking about the book Doll Bones by Holly Black. So please join us! Everyone is welcome!
I am also getting ready for the Sharp-Schu book club by reading Sidekicks by Dan Santat and Bobby vs. Girls (Accidentally) by Lisa Yee and illustrated by Dan Santat! The Sharp-Schu book club will meet on July 31st on Twitter at 8 p.m. EST. Use the hashtag #SharpSchu to follow along. Find out more on Mr. Schu’s blog.
Right after the Sharp-Schu book club please join me for 2nd grade chat on July 31st at 9 p.m. EST. Just use the hashtag #2ndchat. We will be talking about great read aloud books for the upcoming school year. Everyone is welcome!
