I think it is very difficult to write great early reader books. Here are my top 5 favorites of 2016 so far that make it look easy! These authors/illustrators knock it out of the park and make engaging, fun early reader books for children.
5. Duck, Duck, Porcupine! by Salina Yoon
This is a new early reader series that I think my Kindergarten-2nd Grade students will love!
4. Ballet Cat: Dance! Dance! Underpants! by Bob Shea
My students love all of Bob Shea’s books. This series is a hit in my library.
3. We Are Growing! by Laurie Keller (out 9-20-16)
So excited about this new early reader that comes out in the fall. You can’t go wrong with Laurie Keller and Mo Willems! Brilliant!
2. The Cookie Fiasco by Dan Santat (out 9-20-16)
This book is hilarious! Another amazing team up: Dan Santat and Mo Willems equals funny! I can’t wait to share it in the fall with my students! They will love it!
1. The Thank You Book by Mo Willems
This one is a hit! Mo Willems ends the Elephant and Piggie series on a high note! One of my all time favorites in the series.
