What I learned at Nerd Camp 2016!

This is my fourth Nerd Camp but it seems like I am always learning new things each time I go! It is hands down my favorite conference! I love that it is a grass roots conference started by a few book nerds in 2013. A huge thanks to Colby Sharp, Alaina Sharp, Suzanne Gibbs & the Nerd Camp Team for all your hard work!

Now on to what I learned this year….

I learned that you should bring tissues to the Nerd Talks!

Kathy speaking

Hi Roomie- You Rocked Your Nerd Talk!

Kathy Burnette, Teri Lesesne, Pernille Ripp, Raina Telgemeier and Donalyn Miller all made me wish I had packed tissues. They all gave inspirational speeches! My take away: Books Save Lives!

I learned that Colby Sharp isn’t kidding when he says he has a big surprise for Nerd Camp!

I still can’t believe that Kate DiCamillo was at Nerd Camp! Her nerd talk was full of heart and so inspirational. There is magic in the world….in the form of writing and books.

I learned that I never know what to say to authors….especially authors I adore!

Kate signing

“I love your books!” (I’m sure she’s never heard that before!)

I learned that Travis Jonker is right…..

John Schu

John Schu’s Presentations are Energetic and Wonderful!

John and 2 Kates

The Oprah Winfrey of Books in Action!

I also learned….

Carrie loves Peanut Butter M&M’s.

Don’t believe the author rumors about Kurt!

Kathy loves hugs….strike that….reverse it!

The Big Boy statue has a crush on Melissa!

Jason is camera shy!

Rachel is wicked funny!

Don’t let Ann get hangry!

Lesley makes beautiful book jewelry!

In other words….

I learned the BEST thing about Nerd Camp is….

nerd camp friends

Nerdy Friends!
