sweet16-02

Over the next couple of days…I’m sharing my sweet 16! The top 16 books I read this year! Today I’m sharing my top early reader/chapter book favorites!

We are Growing

I love these new books created by Mo Willems called Piggie and Elephant Like Reading. We are Growing is a hoot and perfect for early readers. I think only Laurie Keller could make grass growing so darn entertaining! A very funny book that must be read aloud!

 the-great-antonio

If you are looking for a humorous biography for early readers look no further than The Great Antonio. I love the sweet and humorous details along with the real pictures of Antonio. Toon books are wonderful for early readers and this one is my new favorite.

 whereareyougoing

My students love Mercy Watson and the Tales From Deckawoo Drive series is a great for students who love Mercy Watson and want to learn more about the other characters in the series. Where Are You Going, Baby Lincoln? is about the character Baby Lincoln who is usually bossed around by her older sister Eugenia. But this time Baby Lincoln is going by herself on necessary journey. This touching story is about meeting new friends and Baby Lincoln’s journey to find herself and where she belongs.

snail-and-worm

Snail and Worm is such a fun early reader. It is made up of three playful stories that children just learning to read will adore. A must have for new readers.

So which early readers did you love in 2016? Remember to check back tomorrow for more of my favorite books! Happy Reading!
